Voice dictation for Outlook.

Outlook’s own Dictate button works in a pinch. Vokalu adds cleanup: it drops the ums, applies “no wait, actually” corrections, and lays the reply out as an email, in the new Outlook, classic Outlook on Windows, Outlook for Mac and Outlook on the web.

WHAT VOKALU TYPES IN OUTLOOK

Hi team, Quick update on the launch: we’re moving it to Friday, because the review needs another day. Please keep Friday morning free. Thanks, Alex

With Dictate + Format. Your words, cleaned up and laid out for Outlook.
Illustrative example, not a recorded customer result.
01

Click where you’d type in Outlook

Vokalu types wherever your cursor is: a message box, a prompt, a document, a comment.

02

Hold the shortcut and talk

Hold Ctrl + Win on Windows or Control + Option on Mac. Correct yourself as you go (“no wait, Friday”); Vokalu keeps only what you meant.

03

Let go, then read it once

The text appears in Outlook, formatted for it. Check names, numbers and dates before you send anything.

What Vokalu does in Outlook

Text going into Outlook gets the email layout: your greeting on its own line, short paragraphs, the question or call to action on its own line, and your sign-off with your name below it. Nothing you didn’t say is added.

The Outlook apps are recognized by name, including the new Outlook for Windows. In a browser, Vokalu recognizes Outlook from the tab title, so keep the site’s name in it (it is by default). Only the name “Outlook” is used for formatting; the rest of the title stays on your computer.

Questions worth asking

Is this better than Outlook’s Dictate button?

It does different work. Outlook’s dictation types what you say. Vokalu also removes fillers, applies your corrections and lays the text out as an email, and works the same in every other app.

Does it work in Outlook on the web?

Yes, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, as long as “Outlook” is in the tab title, which it is by default.
